Hello. I am looking for some advice. I have a wonderful newfie pup who is now 21 weeks old. He only has one fault, he can sometimes act aggressive and bite. I have tried the ignore him trick, the give him a toy trick, the make a howl noise and act like alpha etc, and none have worked. I need help and quick, it is becoming hard when clothes are getting ripped and skin is also getting ripped. Thank you

I don't have a newfie, but if I am not wrong all puppies are playful and mouthy. They jump and nip on hands, shirts, pants, shoes, etc. My two dogs (Golden Retriever and Goldendoodle) both went through this stage. It gets better with age, consistant training, correction, and redirection, the behavior almost vanish in no time. We have many ripped shirts (my DH is still wearing them, the dogs are 4 and almost 2 yrs old now), and I sustained my scratches during those puppies months. What we did was each time the puppy gets over excited and starts to jump and snip, we redirect his attention to a squeaky/chew toy. Or whenever his teeth touch our skin, we fake a loud yelp! And pretend to be really upset and ignore the puppy completely for a few mins. Hang in there, this stage will pass.
